Understanding the problems of the elderly, the Yogi government has made the application process very simple and clear as water. The government has given its approval to five new and easy alternative documents for age verification. After this decision, no eligible elderly person will be left out of getting pension just because of lack of papers.

According to the new and amended order issued by the state government, now ration card, voter ID (voter identity card), driving license, passport and PAN card will be accepted as solid proof of age. Earlier, while applying, it was absolutely mandatory (strictly necessary) to give a copy of the high school certificate or family register. Due to this rule, many elderly people in urban areas had to visit offices and face a lot of problems.

In fact, in an order issued by the government in March 2026, the age recorded on a main government document for verification of date of birth was declared invalid. Since then, the application process had become very complicated, especially for the elderly living in urban areas. There are many elderly people who never went to school, so they did not have any educational certificate and in many places in the cities, the system of family register was also not available. In such a situation, a large number of entitled elderly people were left out of the scope of this scheme, but now the government has found a solution to this.

You just have to give a small self-declaration form, the work will become easy.

Under the new and very easy system, now the elderly applying will have to fill and submit a small self-declaration form along with their other documents. In this declaration form, the applicant will have to write only that he does not have a high school certificate and the facility of family register is not available in the area where he lives.

After this form is submitted, the District Social Welfare Department will complete the verification process of these documents in a very short time and will forward the pension application. The government clearly believes that this big change will bring transparency in the entire pension process and the elderly will be freed from unnecessary visits to government offices forever.
