  • Google introduced ‘Gemini Spark’ AI agent at I/O 2026.
  • This AI tool will work with Gmail, Google Docs and Google Slides.
  • Gemini Spark will be able to automatically complete many daily tasks of users.

Tech giant Google has organized the Google I/O 2026 developers conference at the Shoreline Amphitheater in California. The event has been organized for two days on May 19 and 20. On the very first day of this event i.e. Tuesday, Google has introduced a personal AI agent named Gemini Spark. This AI agent can perform many tasks on behalf of users by itself. This agentic AI tool is based on the Gemini 3.5 model and is built on the AI agent tech giant’s ‘Antigravity Integrated Development Environment’ (IDE). Gemini Spark runs on dedicated virtual machines on the Google Cloud and is fully integrated with other Google tools.

A cloud-based AI agent

In a blog post, Google said Gemini Spark is designed for task planning and structuring repetitive tasks for AI agents and collaborative teams. The personal AI agent is integrated with Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Google Docs and Google Slides. Google has explained that this is a cloud-based AI agent, so it will continue to process tasks in the background even after the laptop is turned off or the phone is locked. (Photo Courtesy – X)

This is how an AI agent works

This AI agent converts simple prompts or rough objectives into a structured task brief. This includes roles, workflows, deliverables, constraints, handoff notes and verification checkpoints. Google says these outputs can then be used in different AI runtimes, agent systems and enterprise workflows.

Users’ tasks will be easier

The tech giant also presented several examples of workflows during the event. An AI agent can automatically scan credit card statements each month to identify new subscription fees. Users can also teach custom routines to the AI agent. Including monitoring school emails, noting important deadlines and creating a combined daily summary. Also, the AI agent will be able to automatically analyze meeting notes through emails and chats. One can create a structured Google Docs report from the results and even draft follow-up emails for the project kickoff.

The workflow process behind Gemini Spark

Google also explained the workflow process behind Gemini Spark at the event. Users can start by entering a broad objective or project requirement on this platform. The agentic AI platform then analyzes the input and automatically structures your project into smaller tasks, expected outputs, assigned roles, workflow stages and review checkpoints.
