Firozabad: If you too are thinking of filling your car’s tank frequently or are planning to go to the petrol pump to buy oil in bottles and drums, then wait a moment. Amidst the looming fuel crisis in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh, the administration has implemented very strict rules to prevent hoarding of petrol and diesel. The administration has come into full action mode to maintain smooth supply of fuel in the district and to curb black marketing.
District Supply Officer (DSO) Sweety has taken a tough stand on this matter and made it clear that now diesel or petrol will not be given openly at any petrol pump. This means that now carrying oil in cans, bottles or drums will be completely banned. Along with this, a big rule has also been made for the general public that if you have once filled the tank of your vehicle, then oil will not be given to that vehicle again on the same day.
Strict warning to cold store operators
Firozabad district mainly comes under the potato belt, due to which the consumption of fuel (especially diesel) in the cold stores here is much higher than normal. In view of this, the District Supply Officer has adopted a strict stance and given a clear warning to all the cold store operators. He has said that no operator should indulge in unnecessary hoarding of fuel. If any store is found storing excess oil, the administration will not shy away from taking strict legal action against them.
Know why there is oil shortage
Disclosing the real reason behind the shortage of oil, DSO said that at present there is a huge difference in the supply from oil companies to petrol pumps. The situation is such that even after making advance payment to the companies by the petrol pump owners, it is taking a long time of at least 48 hours for the oil tanker to arrive from the depot. Apart from this, due to Mathura Refinery being closed on Sunday, the oil shortage has been most severe on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Due to increase in this backlog, supply is being adversely affected even on normal days.
Don’t pay attention to rumours, there is enough fuel in the district
Amidst all these restrictions, District Supply Officer Sweety has also reassured the public. He said that due to some technical and logistics problems in the supply from the oil depot, the oil consignment is arriving a little late, but there is no permanent shortage of fuel in the district. These temporary rules have been implemented only to keep the system running smoothly and to prevent black marketing. He has made an emotional appeal to the public to stop buying excess oil out of fear and to fully cooperate with the administration by not paying attention to any kind of rumours.
