The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced an extension for students wishing to obtain scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets for the Class 12 Board Examinations 2026. This decision comes as a response to the technical issues faced on the Board's website, with the new application deadline set for May 23, 2026.
Previously, the deadline was May 22, 2026. The Board's circular emphasized that students now have until the new date to submit their applications for these copies, while all other existing terms and conditions will remain unchanged.
CBSE's Appeal to Students
The CBSE has urged both students and their parents to utilize this additional time effectively and complete the application process within the new timeframe. The Board reiterated that all previous terms regarding the acquisition of scanned copies will still apply.
Cost of Obtaining Scanned Copies
Each year, after the Board examination results are released, CBSE offers students the option to obtain scanned copies of their answer sheets, verify their marks, and request re-evaluations. This allows students to understand the evaluation process better and address any potential discrepancies. Historically, the fee for these services ranged from ₹600 to ₹700, but it has now been significantly reduced to ₹100.
Rationale Behind the Extension
Education experts have expressed that extending the deadline is a beneficial move for students. The reasoning behind this decision is that many students faced challenges in submitting their applications due to the technical glitches. The additional time is expected to alleviate some of the stress for these students. CBSE has also advised students to thoroughly review the guidelines on the Board's official website before applying, ensuring they provide accurate information and submit the required fees promptly.
