This bank holiday weekend could turn out to be a scorcher across the UK as temperatures soar to as high as 29C, with a whopping 26 counties getting above 25C. New hot weather maps by WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, revealed the heat blast is set to hit on Bank Holiday Monday - just five days away.

Brits enjoying the long weekend could finally get the summery conditions they've been hoping for as areas in the Midlands and North East shoot up to 29C on May 25 - much warmer than the monthly average of 16C. Areas around London could be hit with a 28C heat blast, with the mercury just being slightly lower on the south coast at 26C. Counties around the North West and North East could also see temperatures soar to as high as 28C in some areas, the weather maps suggest.

While areas along England's coast are expected to be slightly cooler, such as in Norfolk and Cornwall, the mercury could still jump to 23C.

The maps forecast Wales being even hotter with temperature highs of 24C and 28C.

The Met Office wweather forecast for May 24 to June 2 reads: "Warm and dry for most on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

"Through the following week, high pressure is expected to remain in place for much of the UK, meaning fine weather likely to continue for most places.

"Some patchy rain may affect the far north at times and perhaps a few showers in the far south. Temperatures are expected to be above normal, feeling very warm at times with light winds."
