“Maternity leave is over, what is your plan now?” Debate erupts over story of mother turned corporate employee

Corporate Maternity Policy: These days, a video is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which a woman has shared the challenges she faces in the corporate world after becoming a mother. In the video, a woman named Saloni tells that her maternity leave was about to end, after which she got a call from HR.

According to the woman, her child was born prematurely and hence she needed some more time to take care of the child. He had requested to be given additional leave of one-two months, albeit without pay.

Reality of job in corporate world

The woman says that HR told her that there is no such fixed policy and a maximum of 15 days leave can be given, that too after the approval of senior officials.

According to Saloni, during the conversation, she was also asked questions regarding notice period and resignation, due to which she felt that the circumstances were being created such that she herself would start thinking about leaving the job. However, the claims made in the video have not been independently verified and there has been no response from the concerned company on the matter.

Debate broke out on viral video

After the video went viral, people on social media started discussing the challenges faced by working mothers. Many users said that the workplace experience changes for many women after maternity leave.

At the same time, some people on social media advised that strong support system and better policies are necessary to balance both career and family. This discussion has once again raised the question of what kind of support women should get at the workplace after motherhood.
