According to departmental sources, the major and new technical changes going on in the back-end system of EPFO like Revamped ECR (Electronic Challan-cum-Return) and Ledger Migration system are the main reasons for this problem. In this change, EPFO is replacing its old real-time ledger system and shifting to the new system. Along with this, this problem is also being faced by those employees whose KYC is incomplete and they work in such exempted companies (Exempted Trusts) which manage their own PF. However, officials say that this is a temporary problem and everyone’s money is completely safe. The department has advised consumers that it may take 7 to 10 days for the data to be updated, so be patient.
4 alternative and easy ways to check balance:
missed call service
Even if the portal is down, shareholders should give a missed call to 9966044425 from their registered mobile number. After two rings the call will be disconnected automatically and balance information will be received through SMS.
