In Hindu religion, it is believed that attaining salvation is possible only with the blessings of Lord Vishnu. To attain this salvation, lakhs of people go to Badrinath Dham of Lord Vishnu. According to religious belief, by visiting Badrinath, people get freedom from the cycle of life and death. To attain salvation, a demon also worshiped Lord Vishnu. Due to which he not only got the boon of Lord Vishnu, but he also became the protector of Badrinath Dham.
According to mythology, the demon born in the vampire vagina was Ghantakarna, who was one of the greatest devotees of Lord Shiva. He used to do penance for Lord Shiva day and night. Apart from this, he had great hatred for Lord Vishnu. He did not even like to hear the name of Lord Vishnu. However, later Ghantakarna also became a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Now the question arises as to why Ghantakarna became a devotee of Lord Vishnu.
Ghantakarna absorbed in Shiva devotion
Ghantakarna was born in the womb of a vampire. He was completely different from other demons. Despite being a demon, he was always engrossed in devotion to Shiva. While on one hand he considered himself a great devotee of Lord Shiva, on the other hand he did not even like to take the name of Lord Vishnu.
Ghantakarna once tied a bell in both his ears. Whenever someone took the name of Lord Vishnu in front of him, he used to ring the bell, so that he could only hear the sound of the bell. For this reason he came to be known as Ghantakarna.
How to become a devotee of Lord Vishnu?
According to mythology, Ghantakarna wanted freedom from the demon vagina. For this he did a lot of penance to Lord Shiva. Pleased with his penance, Lord Shiva appeared. Shiv ji told that he does not have the power to give salvation. Lord Vishnu has the right to grant salvation. In such a situation, Ghantakarna went to Badrinath Dham, where he performed rigorous penance to get the boon of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu was very happy with this penance.
Ghantakarna became the protector of Badrinath Dham
Lord Vishnu was very happy to see the penance of Ghantakarna. After which Lord Vishnu not only blessed him with salvation but also made him the protector of Badrinath Dham. For this reason, Ghantakarna is worshiped in Badrinath even today. According to religious belief, any devotee’s visit to Badrinath Dham is considered successful only when he also has darshan of Ghantakarna. Ghantakarna is also considered to play an important role in the traditions of opening and closing of doors in Badrinath Dham.
