Author Amish Tripathi is revisiting an old passion. Years before the Shiva Trilogy made him one of India’s most widely read mythology writers, Amish was the lead singer of his band at IIM Calcutta — a journey he has now revisited nearly three decades later with his latest musical project, Shiva Stotram .
“Actually, I was the lead singer of our IIM-Calcutta band a few decades ago. But my singing got silenced once I started my banking career. This is a return to singing after nearly 30 years,” he says, adding, “And like many good things in my life, this return also began with Lord Shiva. Trilok Music and I were speaking, and we felt that the youth must be aware of our ancient Sanskrit hymns as well. And perhaps the best way to do it, is through modern music. And hence, this attempt to recreate the Tandav Stotram. “
Even as he explores music, speculation around film adaptations of his bestselling books continues. Over the years, several Bollywood names — including Karan Johar — have been linked to adaptations of the Shiva Trilogy, but none have materialised so far. “Lots of deals have happened, but nothing has been made yet. The film rights for all my books are back with me,” he shares.
The author, however, remains philosophical about the delay. “I’m sure they will get made into movies at the time Lord Shiva and the Mother Goddess will it,” he signs off.
