Ludhiana: Punjabi singer Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, was found dead in a canal in Ludhiana nearly six days after she was allegedly kidnapped, police said. The 29-year-old singer’s body was recovered from the Nilo Canal around 11 am and later sent for post-mortem examination at Samrala Civil Hospital.

The incident has triggered outrage and grief among family members, who had been searching for her since the day she reportedly went missing.

Family Alleges Kidnapping at Gunpoint

According to relatives, Inder Kaur was allegedly abducted at gunpoint six days ago. The family claimed they repeatedly approached police authorities and urged them to launch a search operation after she disappeared.

Her relatives alleged that despite multiple complaints, there was no breakthrough in tracing her until her body was discovered in the canal.

Police officials said they are examining all aspects of the case and have started a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Forced Marriage Allegation Emerges

The family has accused a man from Moga of pressuring the singer to marry him against her wishes. According to relatives, the accused and Inder Kaur became acquainted through Instagram nearly three years ago.

Family members claimed the singer later discovered that the man was already married and had children. Following this, she reportedly ended contact with him and refused marriage proposals, which allegedly led to escalating tensions.

Relatives further alleged that the accused planned the crime after she rejected him. They claimed he traveled from Canada to Punjab via Nepal before the incident and later fled the country using the same route.

Police Begin Detailed Investigation

After recovering the body, police teams reached the spot and initiated legal proceedings. Officials said efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved.

Investigators are also verifying claims made by the family regarding the accused’s movements and alleged involvement in the case. Inder Kaur’s parents and two brothers currently live in Korea, while another brother resides in Ludhiana’s Jamalpur area. The incident has left the family devastated, with relatives demanding strict action and a speedy investigation.
