Chikkamagaluru: A 14-year-old girl died in a tragic accident after a saree tied to a ladder accidentally tightened around her neck while she was playing at Kallolli village near Bettagere in Sringeri taluk on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Sapthami, a Class 8 student.
According to reports, Sapthami had come to her grandmother’s house in Kallolli village for the summer holidays. She was playing in the attic of the house and later tried to climb down.
During this time, a saree tied to the ladder accidentally got tightened around her neck.
Family members immediately rescued the girl and rushed her to a hospital. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
A case has been registered at the Sringeri Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
