The ongoing wait and confusion among people regarding the date of Bakrid is now over. Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Subhan Bukhari has announced that this year Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on May 28. With this announcement made after the sighting of the moon, preparations for Eid will intensify across the country. Bakrid is considered an important festival of Islam, which is celebrated with the message of sacrifice, renunciation and humanity. On this day, the Muslim community offers namaz, makes sacrifices and spreads food and happiness among the needy. The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia had appealed to the people to try to see the moon with open eyes, binoculars or a telescope. Besides, when the moon is visible, it was also asked to inform about it in the nearest court.
Dhul-Hijja is the last month of the Islamic calendar and is considered very holy. Eid-ul-Azha, celebrated in this month, is also called the festival of sacrifice. This festival is celebrated in memory of Hazrat Ibrahim’s faith, sacrifice and dedication to Allah. On this day the Muslim community offers namaz, makes sacrifices and distributes food and happiness among the needy.
