New Delhi:- The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared it a global health emergency in view of the rapidly spreading Ebola infection in Congo and Uganda. WHO has taken this decision in view of the continuously increasing cases and deaths in both the countries. However, the health organization has said that, at present the situation is not such that it can be considered an epidemic, but it has definitely become a matter of concern for the whole world.
According to the information, the situation is said to be the worst in Ituri province of Congo. Around 80 suspicious deaths have been recorded so far in areas like Bunia, Rwampara and Mongbwalu. Apart from this, symptoms of infection have been found in many people, some cases of which have also been confirmed by lab tests. The biggest matter of concern is that health workers are also falling prey to this virus and so far 4 medical staff have died. The infection is spreading in Uganda.
After Congo, this virus has also knocked in Uganda. So far, two infected patients have been found in Uganda’s capital Kampala. However, according to initial information, both the people had come from Congo, but no direct contact has been revealed between them.
Doctors have feared that this time the Bandibugyo virus may be responsible for the infection. Ebola is considered a very dangerous disease, which spreads through contact with the blood, sweat, vomit or other body fluids of an infected person. This is the reason why the risk of its spread remains very high.
WHO keeps an eye on the situation
The World Health Organization is now monitoring the situation at the international level. It is believed that an emergency committee meeting can also be called soon so that a strategy can be made with different countries to prevent the infection.
At present, the only thing of relief is that there is a vaccine to prevent Ebola infection. Health agencies are trying to control the infection before it spreads too much and to provide rapid treatment and help to the affected areas.
