RBI Rules: The Reserve Bank of India has made the process of clearing checks at banks much easier than before. Customers will no longer need to wait in long queues.
In how many days does a cheque get cleared in the bank?
Bank Check and RBI Rules: Following the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) new regulations, the check clearing process has become much faster in banks across the country. Customers no longer have to stand in long queues to clear checks. This hassle has been completely eliminated since the Reserve Bank of India's regulations. All major banks, including HDFC and ICC Bank, have fully adopted this new system.
According to reports, under the RBI's new rules, the check clearing process is now completed within a single day, meaning your check will be cleared within a single day. This process is divided into two main phases. First, banks scan all customer-deposited checks between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and send them to the clearing house. Following this process, the bank from which the funds are to be deducted must provide its confirmation by 7 p.m. Furthermore, each check has an itemized "expiry time," eliminating any potential for delays.
Know here how the Positive Pay System works?
Regarding the second process, to further secure and verify bank checks, the use of the Positive Pay system has been made mandatory. For checks exceeding ₹50,000, account holders must provide a photo of the check to the bank in advance. It's important to note that banks attempt to match these details when clearing checks. If the information is correct, the payment will be processed smoothly and without any hassle.
Important instructions have been issued to customers.
In fact, the bank has issued important instructions to all customers, stating that whenever you issue a check, always ensure that your bank balance is sufficient. Also, fill in all the details clearly and correctly on the check to avoid rejection due to technical reasons.
