Hundreds of travellers have been left stranded at major UK airports following a wave of flight cancellations.
British Airways was among numerous airlines to cancel flights on Friday, 15 May, leaving passengers stuck at airports across the country.
The widespread disruption resulted in a total of 465 flight delays and 25 cancellations in a single day.
Services operated by British Airways, American Airlines, Norse Atlantic Airways, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines were amongst those affected.
London Heathrow bore the brunt of the chaos, with 233 flights delayed.
A total of 22 flights were also cancelled from the bustling hub, with 17 of these belonging to British Airways.
At Gatwick, cancellations were kept to a minimum, with just one British Airways service called off.
Nevertheless, 142 flights from the London airport departed behind schedule.
In Scotland, another British Airways flight failed to operate, with a further 58 delays recorded at Edinburgh Airport.
Glasgow also saw a British Airways cancellation.
The turmoil comes as the travel industry continues to feel the strain of the Middle East conflict, with fuel costs spiralling as the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked.
Figures reveal that airlines have dramatically increased flight cancellations throughout May as jet fuel prices continue to surge.
In total, Cirium recorded 296 departures from UK airports scrapped this month as of Tuesday - a stark increase from 120 cancellations just six days prior.
Last week, British Airways' parent company IAG cautioned that its profits face a significant blow, with fuel costs expected to run approximately two billion euro (£1.72 billion) over budget this year.
Chief executive Luis Gallego stated that IAG does not anticipate "any interruption for the summer" with regard to jet fuel supplies.
