Ahmedabad, May 15, 2026 – GCCI The second edition of Gujarat Sustainability Summit was successfully organized by. In the inaugural session of this grand summit held today, Ahmedabad’s Municipal Commissioner Mr. Banchanidhi Pani (IAS), Mr. Chandra Bhushan, President and CEO of iFOREST, and Mr. Punit Lalbhai, Vice Chairman of Arvind Limited, and eminent personalities from the industry were present.

The second edition of ‘GCCI Gujarat Sustainability Summit 2026’ (GGSS 2026) was successfully organized by Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) at Soulinaire, Ahmedabad. This summit has strengthened Gujarat’s leadership in India’s transition towards sustainability and green economy. “Gujarat: India’s engine of sustainability development – ​​leading the way between 2047 and 2070” More than 40 eminent speakers and more than 1,000 delegates from industry, government, academia and international forums participated in this summit organized under the theme.

The summit became a premier platform for policymakers and industry leaders to discuss environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies. Participation from sectors like manufacturing, technology, energy and finance highlighted Gujarat’s role in global decarbonization efforts.

Welcoming the honorable dignitaries and delegates, GCCI President Shri Sandeep Engineer addressed the gathering. He stressed the need to transform ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) into a practical business imperative and not just an ideological framework. He stressed the importance of integrating sustainability into Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem through resource circularity, social equity and transparency. Additionally, he encouraged businesses to adopt ‘carbon awareness’ as a strategic imperative for long-term global competitiveness.

On this occasion, GCCI officials Mr. Rajesh Gandhi, Senior Vice President, Mr. Apoorva Shah, Vice President, Mr. Bipendrasinh Jadeja, Honorary Minister – Regional and Mr. Gaurang Bhagat, Honorary Treasurer were present.

Shri Banchhanidhi Pani (IAS), Municipal Commissioner, Ahmedabad, highlighted the crucial role of urban local bodies in achieving ‘net-zero’ targets. He took note of Ahmedabad’s leading initiatives in the areas of waste management and green urban infrastructure to build a climate-resilient city.

Offering a global perspective on climate action, Mr Chandra Bhushan, President and CEO of iFOREST, stressed that India’s development path till 2047 must be based on a ‘just transition’ that balances industrial growth and environmental responsibility.

Additionally, sustainability leaders from the world’s leading corporate companies also shared best practices and strategic roadmaps to bring sustainability into their core business functions.
