E-Rickshaw New Rules For Delhi Traffic: Delhi is a city of employment and e-rickshaws plying on its roads are a part of the everyday life of millions of people. Whether you want to reach home from the metro station or go to the market, people use e-rickshaw because of the low fares. But now many big changes are going to happen regarding e-rickshaw in the capital Delhi.

In view of the increasing traffic jams, illegal e-rickshaws and road safety, the Delhi government has decided to implement the new E-Rickshaw Policy from May 15. If we talk about this new policy, its direct impact will be seen on lakhs of drivers and passengers.

One person, one E-Rickshaw rule will create a stir

Let us tell you that in the new policy which will be implemented from May 15, only one e-rickshaw can be registered on one driving license. Which simply means that now no person can buy multiple e-rickshaws in his name and drive them on rent. On this new rule, Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh says that the purpose of this step is to stop illegal e-rickshaws and reduce the increasing crowd on the roads.

Till now what was happening was that people used to register dozens of e-rickshaws in their name and give them on rent. Due to which it was becoming difficult to follow the rules. The government believes that with the one person, one e-rickshaw model, it will be clear which vehicles are legal and which are illegal.

Rickshaw will not run without fitness certificate

Fitness certificate has also been made mandatory in this new policy. Which means that any e-rickshaw will be required to undergo technical inspection before it hits the road. With this rule, the government believes that many old and poor condition e-rickshaws will be removed from the roads which can be a threat to the safety of passengers. Through this fitness test, it will be ensured that the vehicle is fit to run on the road and there is no problem with it.

10 days training will also be necessary

It has also been added to the list of rules that now before registering a new e-rickshaw, drivers will have to take 10 days of training from the transport department. So that they can be told about traffic rules, road safety and how to behave with passengers. With this initiative, the government claims that road accidents will reduce and passengers will also be more safe.

Finally, let us tell you that at present there are more than 2 lakh registered e-rickshaws in Delhi. In such a situation, if the rules are followed properly then a big change will be seen in the traffic system of the capital.
