The beach on the eastern coast of Baunei is known for its white pebbles, turquoise waters and 143-meter limestone pinnacle.
Though it can only be reached by a two-hour hike or by sea, Cala Goloritze is often overcrowded, particularly during the peak summer months of July and August, despite a daily visitor limit of 250 people, according to CNN.
Philippines’s Entalula Beach has been voted No.1 in the ranking this year.
Tine Holst, cofounder and CEO of The World’s 50 Best Beaches, said one of the biggest takeaways from this year’s ranking is a shift toward beaches that feel untouched and protected.
“There’s a clear move away from well-known, high-traffic beaches toward places that feel more preserved and natural,” Holst said, as quoted by Forbes.
“Beaches that were once considered pristine can lose their edge when crowd levels, infrastructure or environmental strain start to impact the experience,” he added.
“It’s not just about how a beach looks, it’s about how it’s maintained and whether that experience can still feel special.”
The World’s 50 Best Beaches is an annual initiative created by a team of beach enthusiasts and travel professionals aiming to produce an authoritative, expert-driven list, curated through votes from travel experts, influencers, and “Beach Ambassadors” worldwide.
