Tata Motors was one of the first brands in the Indian market to introduce twin-cylinder technology for CNG variants. The company was also among the first to offer automatic and AMT options with CNG trims. Tata has now extended its iCNG AMT range by launching the Tata Altroz iCNG AMT at Rs 8.69 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Tata Altroz iCNG AMT is available in Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S, and Accomplished S variants. Price starts at Rs 8.69 lakh, ex-showroom and goes all the way till Rs 10.77 lakh, ex-showroom.
Speaking on the launch, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said:“The Altroz has consistently set benchmarks in the premium hatchback segment through its strong focus on design, safety, and powertrain choice. CNG is the fastest-growing fuel choice in the country, with 19% penetration in FY25 and 22% in FY26, and this growth is no longer limited to traditional markets, with new regions contributing significantly to adoption. With the introduction of AMT in the iCNG lineup, we are addressing a clear and growing customer need for greater convenience in CNG vehicles. This addition makes Altroz the most versatile and premium offering in its segment, delivering the right balance of efficiency, ease of driving, and everyday practicality, without compromising on space or safety.”

It is the only premium hatchback in the Indian market that is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Altroz was also a special car for Tata, as it was the company’s first-ever premium hatchback. The Altroz received a major facelift last year, and as part of the update, both the exterior design and cabin were revised.
The hatchback now comes with sleek-looking headlamps and LED DRLs, LED tail lamps connected by an LED light bar, flush-fitting door handles, alloy wheels, and more.
On the inside, the Altroz gets lounge-style rear seats, a soft-touch Grand Prestigia dashboard, and Ultra View 26.03 cm twin digital screens for instrumentation and infotainment by HARMAN. Other features include ambient lighting, automatic climate control, an electric sunroof, and more.
Like all Tata products, the Altroz has also scored a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating across petrol, diesel, and CNG powertrains. Other than its sturdy build quality, the Tata Altroz comes equipped with safety features like six airbags, ESP, ISOFIX mounts, and reverse parking sensors as standard. It also gets features such as a 360-degree HD surround-view system, tyre pressure monitoring system, automatic headlamps, and LED fog lamps.
The Altroz is available with 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine options. The regular petrol engine generates 87 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. This engine is available with manual, AMT, and DCA gearbox options.

The diesel engine, on the other hand, generates 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. This engine is available with a manual transmission only.
The iCNG variant is powered by the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, and it generates 73 bhp and 103 Nm of torque. Offering an automatic transmission with the CNG option is actually a major advantage for many users, especially in heavy city traffic conditions.
It uses the same iCNG technology, which comes with a single advanced ECU, enabling smooth and seamless transitions between petrol and CNG modes.
Tata is also offering twin-cylinder iCNG technology, which neatly integrates the twin CNG tanks under the luggage area. Even with the tanks in place, the car offers 210 litres of usable boot space. The petrol and diesel variants, meanwhile, offer 345 litres of boot space.
