But now there is talk of a new, more affordable electric car codenamed ‘Kuno’. According to reports, this new sub-4 meter electric car could hit the market by late 2027 or early 2028, with an expected price tag of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh (on-road).

Tata Kuno targets urban users

According to reports, the Tata Kuno is being designed specifically for everyday urban use. Several new Tata electric SUVs are being developed based on this concept. There are also reports that the car could be an entry-level model in Tata’s electric lineup. However, if this car is launched in the same segment as the Nexon, it may affect the sales of the Nexon EV in the long run.

Features may be less, but…

This new EV will be launched at a lower price point, but Tata is still aiming to provide the requisite modern features. Notably, the car is likely to get features like a digital driver display, touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, a USB Type-C port, ADAS and six airbags. It is worth noting that the official information about the battery pack of this model has not been released yet, but it is likely to have a 24kWh or 30kWh battery pack. A 30kWh battery should give better range, especially in cities.
