A number of flights are being cancelled in Italy today as strike action sweeps major airports. Air traffic control staff at the Rome Control Center plan to halt operations from 10 am to 6pm, a move expected to disrupt nearly all flights passing through central Italy, including departures, arrivals, and overflights.
Workers at ENAV Naples will join the strike during the same eighthour window, adding further strain to air traffic across the region. A fourhour strike is scheduled at Palermo Airport from 12pm to 4pm, involving staff from GH Palermo, ASC Handling, and Aviapartner Palermo.
At the same time, EasyJet pilots and flight attendants are set to stage an eighthour walkout from 10am to 6pm.
Due to the wider disruption across Italy's air transport sector, ENAV ITA Airways has already announced that "following the announcement of eight-hour strike action involving the Italian air transport sector, it has been forced to cancel approximately 38% of its schedule."
The company is urging all passengers holding tickets for the strike day to verify their flight status before heading to the airport, either by checking the Flight Status section on itaairways.com or by contacting the travel agency where they made their booking.
This helps travellers avoid unnecessary trips and stay updated on any cancellations or schedule changes.
