A major convenience upgrade is on the way for everyday transactions in India. State Bank of India, along with the Reserve Bank of India and the government, is planning to roll out cash and coin dispenser machines powered by UPI.
🏧 What’s New?These upcoming machines will allow users to withdraw small cash and coins instantly using UPI, eliminating the need for debit cards.
- Withdraw ₹10 and ₹20 notes
- Get coins of ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, and ₹10
- No ATM card required
- Just scan a QR code and withdraw money
The pilot rollout will begin in cities like:
- Bengaluru
- Pune
- Chandigarh
- Shimla
- Vellore
- Amravati
Around 60 machines are expected to be installed in the next 3 months, mainly in crowded markets and public areas. Later, the service may expand to 13–14 states across India.
🚀 Why This MattersSmall cash transactions are still very common in India—whether it’s street vendors, auto fares, or local shops. But finding change is often a hassle.
This initiative could:
- Solve the “no change” problem
- Boost digital payments with real cash access
- Reduce dependency on ATMs for small withdrawals
India is already a global leader in digital payments thanks to National Payments Corporation of India. This move blends digital convenience with physical cash needs, making the ecosystem even stronger.
🧠 Bottom LineIf successfully implemented, these machines could change how Indians handle small payments—no more awkward “no change” moments at shops or markets.
