Every employee contributes a portion of their salary to the PF account. This means that a portion of their salary is deposited into the PF account. You can withdraw this amount when needed. However, until now, the rule was that if your PF account is old or closed, it cannot be reopened. However, the EPFO has changed this. This change will be very important for employees.
This is good news for employees. The EPFO will soon launch a web portal called "e-Praapti," where you can reactivate your old PF account. Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced this on Wednesday.
He explained that your account will be activated based on your Aadhaar card information. This information will also help identify employees' old accounts, even those that are not linked to a Universal Account Number. The UNA number will later be linked to the employee's old account, and the profile can be updated.
The EPFO began issuing a 12-digit UNA number to every employee in 2014. The new 'E-PRAAPTI' portal stands for 'Employee Provident Fund Aadhaar-Based Access Portal for Tracking Inoperative Accounts.' Initially, employees will need to enter essential information about themselves into the portal. This is a security measure. This portal will be very useful for employees who do not have any information about their accounts.
