The Festival of Lights is celebrated over several days, with regional variations adding to the festivities. Consequently, bank closures differ from state to state.

Here's a detailed guide on when and where banks will remain closed during this festive season.

On October 20, banks will remain shut in many states, including Tripura, Gujarat, Mizoram, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. The closures mark Naraka Chaturdashi, Kali Puja, and Diwali celebrations in different forms.

Other states observing a bank holiday on this day are Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh (UT), Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Assam, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Nagaland, West Bengal, Delhi (NCT), Goa, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh.

Extended closures

The bank holiday season continues on October 21 with Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Jammu, and Srinagar observing a break for Diwali Amavasya (Laxmi Pujan), Deepawali, and Govardhan Pooja.

On October 22, banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh due to festivals such as Vikram Samvat New Year, Balipadyami, and Laxmi Puja.

Banks will remain closed on October 23 as well
Last hurrah

The holiday season culminates on October 23 with banks in Gujarat, Sikkim, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Himachal Pradesh observing a break for Bhaidooj, Chitragupt Jayanti, and other regional festivals.

This marks the end of the extended bank holiday period across various states in India.
