Aadhaar Verification Online: Is your Aadhaar card genuine or fake? This question must have crossed your mind at some point. These days, cases of fraud involving the creation of fake Aadhaar cards are constantly increasing. We know how important Aadhaar cards are in today's times. Aadhaar is required everywhere, from getting a job to opening a bank account or availing government schemes. In such a situation, using a fake Aadhaar card can lead to serious problems.
It has often been observed that fake Aadhaar cards have strange fonts, incorrect QR codes, or invalid numbers. Fraudsters have resorted to using such cards to exploit them. In light of this danger, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has urged people to verify the authenticity of any Aadhaar card.
How to tell if an Aadhaar card is genuine or fake?
UIDAI has stated that the easiest and most reliable way to verify an Aadhaar card is to scan its QR code. Every Aadhaar card, whether printed or downloaded, has a QR code. This QR code contains encrypted details such as the Aadhaar holder's name, photo, and date of birth.
When you scan it using the UIDAI's official app or website, the screen will display the same information as printed on your card. If the details don't match or the QR code isn't readable at all, it's a fake Aadhaar card.
For this, you can download the "mAadhaar" app or use the QR Code Scanner available on the UIDAI website. UIDAI has also clearly stated that you should not trust Aadhaar cards in PDF or image format received via WhatsApp, email, or any messaging app, as fraudsters edit these to make them fake.
Why is Aadhaar verification necessary?
Aadhaar is used everywhere today...from bank KYC to obtaining a SIM card, submitting job documents, and availing government subsidies or schemes. Using a fake Aadhaar card can lead to trouble and losses.
Detecting authenticity is free and extremely easy.
That's why UIDAI recommends that, whether you're hiring someone, submitting bank documents, or verifying your identity, always verify the authenticity of your Aadhaar card by scanning its QR code. Fortunately, UIDAI has made this facility free and extremely easy for everyone. Scanning a QR code takes only a few seconds, and it instantly reveals the difference between genuine and fake.
In today's digital age, identity theft has become a common problem. Therefore, verifying the authenticity of your Aadhaar card has become essential for every citizen. This initiative by UIDAI not only enhances security but also raises awareness. If you want to keep your Aadhaar and that of your family safe, don't forget to scan the QR code.
