According to the bank holiday calendar issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks may remain closed for about half a month this month. However, these holidays are not the same in all states. Some holidays are state-specific, while some are considered national holidays.
Independence day this month
This month, August 15 is Independence Day holiday. Banks across the country will remain closed on this day. Apart from this, this month, there are also holidays on the birth anniversary of Tendong Low Rum Fat festival of Sikkim, Raksha Bandhan/Jhulan Purnima, Parsi New Year, Janmashtami, Maharaja Veer Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, birth anniversary of Ganesh Chatur Shankar Bahadur, Ganesh Chatur Dev’s birth anniversary.

- Banks will remain closed in Sikkim due to the explosion of Tendong Low Rum on 8 August 2025.
- On 9 August 2025, Banks will Remain Closed in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh Due to Raksha Bandhan and Jhulan Purnima.
- Banks in Manipur will remain closed on 13 August 2025 due to patriotic day.
- On 15 August 2025, banks will remain closed across India due to Independence Day.
- Banks will be closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Jharkhand, Jharkhand, Jharkhand, Jhar Srinagar and Andhra Pradesh Due to Janmashtami/Krishna Jayanti on 16 August 2025.
- On 19 August 2025, banks in Manipur will remain closed due to the birth anniversary of Maharaja Veer Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.
- Banks will remain closed in Assam due to the death anniversary of Shrimant Shankardev on 25 August 2025.
- On 27 August 2025, banks in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bangalore, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Goa and Andhra Pradesh will be closed due to Ganesh Chaturthi.
- Banks will remain closed on 28 August 2025 due to Nuakhai in Odisha and Ganesh Chaturthi (second day) in Goa.
Apart from this, banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. In this way, banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days.
