The central government’s earnings are continuously increasing rapidly. Recently, Indian Bank, one of the big banks of the public sector, has given dividend to the central government for the last financial year.
On Tuesday, Indian Bank Manager Director i.e. MD and Chief Executive Officer CEO Binod Kumar has handed over a dividend check of Rs 1,616.14 crore to FY 2024-25 to Finance Czech Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. DFS secretary M Nagraju and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Indian Bank announced to give dividend to shareholders
Indian Bank has announced a dividend of Rs 16.25 on every stock for the year 2024-25, which reflects support to generate long-term value for all parties including the Government of India with its strong financial performance. Let us tell you that even before this, Reserve Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda and State Bank of Bank have also given about Rs 3 lakh crore to the central government.
Banks gave 3 lakh crore rupees
In financial year 2025-26, Reserve Bank of India i.e. RBI has transferred a record of Rs 2.69 lakh crore to the central government. This is many times more than the 2.1 lakh crore rupees found in the previous year. State Bank of India, the country’s largest government bank, has given a dividend of Rs 8,076.84 crore to the government for the current financial year. Along with this, Bank of Baroda has also given a dividend of Rs 2,762 crore to the central government for FY 2024-25.
What is dividend?
Let us tell you that whenever a company or bank earns a profit, it gives some part of that profit to its shareholders as a dividend. The central government, because these banks have a large shareholder, so it also gets a share of it. The dividend from these banks leads to its total revenue. This dividend gives more funds to spend in development plans, infrastructure projects and social work.
