Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Notorious criminal Naseem Banne Khan was running an organised extortion racket involving hawala cash. On the basis of evidence found during investigations, sections of organised crime will be added to FIR registered against Naseem and his aides and investigations will be carried out into their illegally earned assets and properties, police officials said.

Wanted in a case of murder of youth Amit Verma during a birthday party at Chhola Mandir on June 30 night, Naseem was arrested from Betul on Thursday and is undergoing treatment at the hospital as he received injuries in a bid to flee.

Police officials said Naseem confessed opening fire on Raja Khatik but the bullets hit Amit Verma causing his death. Police investigations revealed that Naseem and Raja were locked in a monetary dispute. However, police are also investigating if Naseem was involved in state wide ‘hawala’ racket.

Moreover, it has also been revealed that Naseem and Raja Khatik were friends earlier. Naseem had information of ‘hawala’ rackets across the state and he used to provide information to Raja regarding transportation of hefty cash. Raja looted hawala money not only in Bhopal but even in other cities including at Satna. It was a dispute over division of the looted hawala cash that resulted in the shootout at Chhola Mandir, police sources said.

Two more held, pistol used in crime seized

The ACP Richa Jain said police on Friday arrested Naseem’s brother Waseem and close aide Shahrukh. Police recovered the pistol used in the murder from Shahrukh’s house in Nishatpura area. Shahrukh sheltered Naseem and even dropped him in Sironj after the crime.

Earlier, on Friday police have also arrested Azad Shah aka Baba from Ashta. Till now, police have arrested 13 people for murder and helping and sheltering the prime accused. Two persons involved in murder Waseem Khan and Sajid are still at large.
