Banke Bihari Corridor dispute: Under the development of religious places in Uttar Pradesh, the proposed corridor scheme for Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan of Mathura is surrounded in controversies. Vrindavan’s calm atmosphere will be affected

The second major protest of Goswami society is about the impact on the traditional lifestyle and worship method of Vrindavan from the modern construction of the corridor. He says that the dazzling of this grand project will destroy the supernatural and calm atmosphere of Vrindavan. The method of worship and devotion in the Banke Bihari temple can lose its originality between this modern structure. The society believes that this project will hurt the local faith and a deep shock to the centuries -old traditions, which can reduce the spiritual significance of the temple.

Crisis on the livelihood of shopkeepers

Many shops and small businesses around the temple will be removed for the construction of the corridor. The Goswami society has expressed deep concern over the fact that this will affect the livelihood of many families. These families have been engaged in the service of temples and devotees for generations and their main sources are shops around the temple and small businesses. The society says that by the formation of the corridor, the economic base of these families will be taken away, which will make their livelihood a crisis. This issue is extremely sensitive to the local community and is intensifying the protest.

According to the Uttar Pradesh government, the main objective of the Banke Bihari Corridor is to increase the convenience of devotees and give relief from the crowd in the temple. The government says that this project will make the temple darshan more smooth and safe, which will benefit millions of devotees. For this, two -storey corridors, three entry routes, and modern facilities are planned for this. However, the government also said that it is ready to communicate to solve the concerns of the local community.

Corridor requirement

Every year millions of devotees visit the Banke Bihari temple, and especially on occasions like Janmashtami, the crowd becomes uncontrollable. Last year, the Allahabad High Court ordered the district administration to submit the corridor’s development plan after the death of two devotees in the stampede in the temple during Janmashtami last year. The purpose of this corridor is to ensure mob management, ease of philosophy, and safety of devotees. This two -storey corridor, built on 5 acres, will provide access to the temple through three routes. The government claims that this project will further strengthen Vrindavan as a tourism hub, which will also benefit the local economy.
