Suspense crime, Digital Desk : As indicated in Motilal Oswal’s MF Fund Folio report, mutual funds reallocated their portfolios during April 2025 and raised allocations to private banks, oil & gas, automobiles, consumer goods, telecom, retail, insurance, chemicals, and real estate. At the same time they reduced holdings in capital goods, technology, NBFCs, utilities, metals, and Cement.
This change came along in the markets as Nifty gained 3.5%, marking the second consecutive monthly gain and the second best in nine months, in April which turned out to be a positive month for the markets.
Key Sectoral Changes in MF Allocation
Private Banks: Weight rose to 18.9% the highest in 20 months, up 50 bps MoM and 170 bps YoY.
Oil & Gas: Allocation raised to 6.4% the highest in 8 months.
Technology: Weighing decreased to 8.3% the third consecutive month of decline.
Capital Goods: Weighing decreased to 6.9%, showing lack of interest from portfolio managers.
Over-Owned vs. Under-Owned Sectors
Healthcare: Over weight by 17 funds.
Under-Owned Sectors:
Private Banks: 15 funds underweight.
Utilities: 12 funds underweight.
Consumer: 19 funds underweight.

Siemens: Decrease by 3,440 crore
Larsen & Toubro (L&T): Decrease by 2,740 crore
Bajaj Finance: Decrease by 2,350 crore
Infosys: Decrease by 2,200 crore
Laps: Decrease by 1,940 crore
Mutual Fund Industry Reaches New AUM Milestone
The mutual fund industry reached a new record with a surge of 6.5% month-over-month to hit 70 lakh crore in April 2025. This brought the total Assets Under Management (AUM) to a milestone figure of 70 lakh crore.
