To make the life of its 7.5 crore members easier, EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization) has decided to increase the limit of auto settlement of advance claims from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. This increase is a total of 5 times. According to media reports, Sumita Dawra, Secretary of, the Ministry of Labor and Employment, approved increasing the limit of auto settlement from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh in the 113th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Central Board of Trustees last week. This amendment will help make the lives of its crores of members easier.
You can also withdraw PF up to Rs 5 lakh.
This meeting was held on March 28 in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, in which EPFO Central Provident Fund Commissioner Ramesh Krishnamurthy participated. After the approval of the CBT, EPFO members can also withdraw PF up to Rs 5 lakh through ASAC. Let us tell you that Auto Settlement of Advance Claim was first started in 2020, at that time its limit used to be Rs 50 thousand. In May 2024, EPFO increased the auto settlement of advance claim limit from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
Introduction of Auto Mode Settlement
EPFO has also introduced auto-mode settlement of advance claims for 3 more categories education, marriage, and housing. Earlier, members were able to withdraw their PF only for illness/hospitalization. At the same time, auto-mode claims are settled within just 3 days and now 95 percent of the claims are auto settled.
Auto Claim Settlement
EPFO has also achieved a historic level of auto claim settlement of Rs 2.16 crore during the current financial year till March 6, 2025, which was Rs 89.52 lakh in 2023-24. According to media reports, the rate of rejection of claims has also come down from 50 percent last year to 30 percent. At the same time, the verification formalities for withdrawing PF have also been reduced from 27 to 18 and it has also been decided in the meeting to reduce it to 6.
