UPI has revolutionized digital payments in India, making transactions seamless from small vendors to large malls. However, starting April 1, 2025, new UPI rules will come into effect. If you don’t follow these updates, your UPI service might stop working.
What’s Changing from April 1?
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced a major rule change:
🔹 Inactive mobile numbers linked to UPI IDs will be deactivated.
🔹 If your registered mobile number is not active for a long time, your UPI ID will be unlinked.
🔹 Once unlinked, you won’t be able to make any UPI payments.
This rule ensures that only active users can access UPI services, preventing fraud and improving security.
What Should You Do?
✅ Ensure your registered mobile number is active. If your bank-linked number has been inactive for months, reactivate it before April 1.
✅ If your mobile number has changed, update your new number with the bank and create a new UPI ID.
✅ Regularly use UPI services to keep your account active.
NPCI’s New Guidelines
✔️ Your bank-verified mobile number will now serve as your UPI identifier, allowing seamless access across different UPI apps.
✔️ Before assigning a numeric UPI ID, apps will require user permission.
To avoid any disruptions, check your mobile number’s status today and stay prepared for the new UPI rules. 🚀💳
