EPFO Update : There is good news for PF employees working in the private sector. Ever since the Modi government approved the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), employees have been expecting an increase in their minimum pension.
There is a voice from all sides that the pension amount should be increased, so that after retirement, life was cut off. Pensioners' organizations have been demanding a minimum pension of Rs 7,500 for a long time.
If the government approved this, then the happiness of millions of employees will not be there.
What is the condition of pension now?
Currently, PF employees get only Rs 1,000 as a minimum pension under EPLOYEES Scheme. This amount was fixed in the year 2014, and since then there has been no change in it.
Pensioners hoped that the government would soon increase it, but no official announcement has been made yet. Yes, there are reports in the media that something big is going to happen. Everyone is just waiting when the government will take any concrete steps on it.
Pensioners plead with the government
A group of pensioners recently met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. During this, he submitted a long memorandum of his demands. His biggest demand was to increase the minimum pension to Rs 7,500.
Apart from this, the increase in dearness allowance and free treatment facility for pensioners and their spouse was also sought.
The Finance Minister assured to consider taking these demands seriously. The organization says that there has been no increase in pension since 2014, while today more than 36 lakh people are associated with this scheme.
PF interest also updated
In the recent meeting of EPFO, interest for employees was announced. The interest rate for the financial year 2024-25 has been retained at 8.25%. Even though it has not increased, the money is going to come soon in the accounts of the employees.
The government will release the amount to the EPFO, which will benefit about 7 crore employees across the country. Hearing this news, there must have been some relief on the face of PF account holders.
What will happen next?
Now everyone's eyes are on the next step of the government. If the minimum pension increases to Rs 7,500, then it will be a big gift for private sector employees.
Also, if the demand for free treatment and dearness allowance is met, then the life after retirement can be really easy.
