The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made some changes in the rules for updating the profile of members. With the new changes made recently, EPF members can update their Aadhaar-linked Universal Account Number (UAN) with personal details without uploading any documents.
There used to be a delay of 28 days.
If the UAN is validated through Aadhaar, then EPF members can update their profile with personal information like their name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father or mother's name, marital status, spouse's name, date of joining and date of leaving without uploading any documents. Earlier, members had to get approval from their employer to update their profile, which caused an average delay of about 28 days.
EPFO
According to a statement from EPFO, about 45 percent of the total 8 lakh correction requests received by EPFO through employers in the financial year 2024-25 can now be approved by the members themselves, without the approval of the employer or EPFO. But it is worth noting that if UAN was issued before October 1, 2017, then employer approval will be required for any update in the profile.
EPF Details
However, members will have to link their Aadhaar and PAN to their EPF account for any update or withdrawal. If there is any problem between EPF details and Aadhaar, then there may be a delay in approval. In such a situation, it may take a few weeks depending on the approval of the employer and EPFO.
How to update the EPF profile?
First of all, go to the portal of the official website of EPF www.epfindia.gov.in.
Then log in to the member portal by filling in details like UAN number, password, and captcha.
After this, click on the ‘Manage’ option given above in the menu.
Click on the option of ‘Modify Basic Details’.
After this, enter the personal details as per your Aadhaar card and submit.
Track the process of profile update using the ‘Track Request’ option.
