Agni Chopra, son of famous Bollywood director and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, has been bought by MI New York in the MLC Domestic Player Draft for $50,000 i.e. around Rs 43 lakh.

26-year-old opening batsman Agni made headlines in India by scoring a record of 4 centuries in his 4 matches in the 2023-24 Ranji season. After this, he also played for Mizoram in the current Ranji season. Agni scored 1804 runs in 20 innings of 11 first class matches at an average of 94.94.

Let us tell you that Agni was born in Detroit, Michigan, due to which he qualified as a domestic player on the basis of US citizenship. According to Cricbuzz, Agni took this decision in view of implementing the BCCI's policy of not allowing foreign passport holders to play Ranji Trophy.

Apart from this, Seattle Orcas have added 35-year-old Sujit Nayak (40,000 dollars) to the team, who has also been a part of Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils team in IPL before shifting to America.

MI New York added more batsmen with Tajinder Singh Dhillon (50,000 dollars) and Sharad Lumba ($15,000). After playing for Mumbai Indians in the 2018 season, this pair is set to join the MI franchise again.

Former Sri Lankan international cricketer Shehan Jayasuriya did not find any buyer. Orcas released him before the draft. No franchise showed interest in former West Indies opening batsman John Campbell either.
