For workers connected to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), the deadline for connecting their bank accounts and Universal Account Number (UAN) to Aadhaar has been extended. Workers now have until February 15 to do this required task. The deadline has been repeatedly extended from its original January 15 date.
Each member of an EPFO is given a 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN), which is a permanent and distinct number. Regardless of employment changes, this figure stays constant throughout the course of an employee’s career. A UAN must be activated in order to use any of the EPFO services.
What makes UAN activation crucial?
Employees may conveniently manage their Provident Fund (PF) accounts online after activating a UAN. Important advantages include:
To access and get the PF passbook.
To submit an online application for a PF transfer, withdrawal, or lodgement.
To update information that has been self-registered.
To check the real-time status of your claim.
Employees may also get benefits under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) program if they have a current UAN number. Employers and new hires in the private sector may benefit financially from this government program. Employees who joined during the current fiscal year are currently covered under the program. However, the following phase is anticipated to refresh current staff.
How to Get Your UAN Number Activated
In order to activate your UAN number, just follow these steps:
Visit unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in, the official EPFO portal.
Select the option to “Activate UAN Number.”
Input your date of birth, registered cellphone number, and UAN number.
After figuring out the verification code, choose “Get Authorization PIN.”
An OTP will be sent to the registered cellphone number you provided. Verify it by entering the OTP.
Your UAN number will be activated after verification. In order to use EPFO services, you will also be given a user ID and password.
It is recommended that workers complete this procedure right away to prevent delays in accessing their PF accounts or other EPFO services.
