PF top changes: Pension and PF have been made easier. The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made several major changes in 2025, which will make EPF and pension processing much easier and faster. These changes include an online profile update, a simple PF transfer process, a New Pension Payment System (CPPS), guidelines for high pensions and simplification of joint declaration process. Let us know about these changes in detail.
Improvement in EPF member profile update
EPFO has made the process of updating member profile quite simple. Now members whose UAN is verified with Aadhaar can update personal details such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality, marital status, and dates of employment directly online.
No document will be required for UAN issued after October 1, 2017.
However, UANs issued before 1 October 2017 may require verification from the employer in some cases.
PF transfer process made easy
PF account transfer has now become easier for members. As per the instructions of 15 January 2025, some online transfer applications can be completed without the approval of the former or current employer.
Transfer between accounts linked to the same UAN.
Transfer between accounts linked to different UANs, provided the UAN is linked to Aadhaar and the name, date of birth, and gender are the same.

Launch of Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS)
EPFO launched the Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) from January 1, 2025.
Pension payments can now be made to any bank account through NPCI.
Pensioners can now use UAN-KYC linked account, which will reduce errors in payment.
Aadhaar registration will be mandatory for new pension orders.
Higher Pension Guidelines
EPFO has issued new guidelines to clarify the policy in the matter of higher pension.
Equality will be ensured in the calculation of pension for all pensioners.
Instructions have been given to handle pension payments and outstanding collections differently.
Home Minister's statement
On these changes of EPFO, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said: These reforms of EPFO will benefit millions of employees and pensioners. It will not only simplify the processes but will also ensure transparency and justice.
