The year 2025 has kicked off with a bang and in just the first 20 days cinema lovers have been treated to not five or ten but an impressive twenty films across various genres and languages gracing the box office. These films include a mix of big-budget extravaganzas and smaller more budget-friendly projects. However the most exciting news comes from a surprising source – when a 64-year-old actor manages to conquer the box office with a film made on a modest budget it undoubtedly captures the attention of fans and critics alike. This is exactly what happened with actor Daggubati Venkatesh’s film Sankranthiki Vasthunnam which was released on January 14 2025 during the festive Pongal season. Despite the film having a modest budget of Rs 50 crore Sankranthiki Vasthunnam managed to rake in over 100 crores in India within just six days of its release. According to initial figures from Box Office tracker Sacnilk the film had an impressive opening day collection of 23 crores. The second day saw 20 crores while the third day brought in 17.5 crores. The fourth day collected 16 crores followed by 17.75 crores on the fifth day and 20.18 crores on the sixth day. These figures pushed the total net collection in India to 114.43 crores while its worldwide gross collection stands at a staggering 131.15 crores with the total gross collection surpassing 150 crores.
