Live-In Registration Mandatory UCC Rules: New rules of the Uniform Civil Code will soon be implemented in Uttarakhand. Under this, couples who want to live in a live-in relationship in the state will now have to register as marriages. Along with this, video recording will have to be done while doing all kinds of government registrations. Such as making a will, making an Aadhaar card, and registering a marriage, it will be mandatory to record the video of witnesses. These rules will apply to all residents of Uttarakhand. These new rules are likely to be implemented in the state from January 26. The state government has also started preparations for the same. The government of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has started training its officials to get information about the UCC portal. The Indian Express participated in one such training camp. Training in this regard has started at the Doiwala Block Office in Dehradun.

An important meeting and training camp was held in Dehradun in the presence of three Sub-Divisional Magistrates regarding the implementation of the new UCC rules. This training camp will continue till January 20. In this camp, officers were given detailed information about the UCC portal. The UCC portal will be run in three ways. Apart from citizens, there will be separate options for employees and officers. An Aadhaar card will be mandatory to log in to this portal. Marriage, divorce, live-in registration, termination of live-in relationship, declaration of successor and legal heir, and registration of will will be done on this portal.
Complaints can also be filed through the portal.
If anyone has any complaint regarding marriage or live-in, it can also be filed through this portal. The sub-registrar has been entrusted with the task of verifying the complaints to ensure that no one uploads wrong information on this portal and there is no tampering of any kind. Meanwhile, Mukesh, the trainer who is providing training on this portal, said, “The citizen who makes the complaint will also have to register on the portal. The sub-registrar has also been entrusted with the task of keeping an eye on false complaints.” Couples currently living in a live-in relationship in the state and couples who wish to live in a live-in relationship in the future will have to provide their name, age, nationality, religion, previous relationship status and phone number on the portal. The same information will also have to be entered on the portal for marriage registration.
