In the last few days, many such reports and social media posts were coming out in which it was being said that a new type of UPI scam is being done. It was being called 'Jump Deposit' scam and it was being claimed that many UPI users had become victims of it. Now National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has clarified that no such scam has been done and UPI apps are completely safe.
Regarding the Jump Deposit scam, it was being claimed that UPI users have become victims of this scam. It was being said that to carry out this scam, the attackers first send a small amount to the user's account and then immediately send a request to transfer a larger amount. It was being said that when the user enters the PIN in the app, a huge amount is deducted from his account at the behest of the scammer. However, now NPCI has issued a clarification in this regard.
NPCI denied such scam
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has clarified that with the help of UPI apps, transactions have not only become easier, but it is also completely secure. It has come to light that the interface of UPI apps suddenly does not allow any kind of transaction. For example, the app has a completely different system for receiving payments or sending money and money cannot be withdrawn from the account just by entering the UPI PIN. Users already know whether they are sending money or not.
The biggest thing is that users do not need to enter UPI PIN to open the app or receive the amount. In such a situation, jump deposit scam is not possible. After opening the app, users will have to approve any payment request and only then they will be asked to enter the UPI PIN. NPCI has said that users should not pay attention to rumors and continue using UPI safely.
It is very important to keep these things in mind
Of course, Jump Deposit scam cannot be done through UPI, but users need to be cautious. You should not share your UPI PIN with anyone under any circumstances. Apart from this, approve only those payment requests about which you have information. Do UPI transactions only through official apps and keep the password or PIN in your phone.
