Oyo, a hotel service company, had recently taken a decision regarding unmarried couples, in which they were banned from entering Meerut. There has been a lot of discussion about the company after this decision. Now another news is coming out that the celebrities who have bought Oyo shares in the last few months include actress Madhuri Dixit, Amrita Rao and Bollywood producer Gauri Khan. It is reported that Gauri Khan bought 24 lakh shares of OYO during the Series G financing round concluded in August 2024, while the company raised more than Rs 1,400 crore from a consortium of investors. An email sent to Khan's team asking in this regard did not receive a response.
Recently, there has been a growing trend for actors and celebrities to diversify their investments into high-growth startups, aiming to earn good returns once these companies go public. Madhuri Dixit, her husband Dr Shriram Nene, clinician doctor, founder of flex space company Innov8, founding member of Plaksha University and angel investor Dr Ritesh Malik have bought 20 lakh shares of Oyo at an undisclosed valuation, the company said in a statement. .
Another Indian celebrity couple, Amrita Rao and her husband Anmol Sood, a popular radio jockey, have also bought Oyo shares in the secondary market, the company said. Nuvama Wealth recently bought shares worth Rs 100 crore in Oyo at Rs 53 per share through a secondary transaction on behalf of its investors, a group of family offices. This means that the valuation of the company is $4.6 billion. Although the valuation has increased, it is still far away from its peak of $10 billion.
