License Suspended: Scooter rider obstructs ambulance; MVD suspends license

The scooter rider blocked the ambulance for 22 km. The Motor Vehicle Department took action in the incident. The license of Afnas, a native of Chilkur, Kozhikode, who was driving the scooter, was suspended for six months. He was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 5,000. He must also attend a five-day training course in the Motor Vehicle Department. The scooter has also been taken into custody.

The incident took place last night. The scooter rider drove dangerously, creating obstacles for the ambulance that was coming from a private hospital in Meppadi, Wayanad, to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital with a patient. He dangerously drove the scooter, not allowing the ambulance to pass, for a distance of 22 km from Ativaram to Karanthur. Ambulance driver Unais says that this caused a delay of about an hour.

The Motor Vehicle Department had recently cancelled the license of a young man who performed a manoeuvre with a recovery van in front of the ambulance that was going to carry a patient. The young man's stunt was performed in the middle of Kochi city. In addition to the cancellation of his license, a fine was also imposed on the young man.

The young man's stunt was performed in front of an ambulance carrying a patient from Vyttila to Kalamassery Medical College. After the Motor Vehicles Department received a complaint including the footage, the license of Kottayam native BR Anand, who was driving the vehicle, was temporarily suspended by Ernakulam RTO TM Jerson.
