In a recent interview, Telugu producer Naga Vamsi made some bold and provocative statements that prompted reactions from Bollywood directors Hansal Mehta, Siddharth Anand, and Sanjay Gupta. The Bollywood vs. South cinema debate has been a hot topic in movie circles in recent years, and Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2” has only sparked new discussions about it after smashing all previous box office records. Mumbai must not have slept after Pushpa 2’s domestic box office success, according to producer Vamsi.

He stated, “I don’t think the whole Mumbai would’ve slept when Pushpa 2 grossed 80 crore on a single day on a Sunday,” in a round table discussion with Indian producers at Galatta. Boney Kapoor, who participated in the discussion as well, stated that the collections were created exclusively in the Hindi-dubbed language.
Hindi filmmakers, however, took issue with this notion and reacted negatively to the allegation on social media.
Filmmakers respond to Naga Vamsi Director Hansal Mehta, who saw The Buckingham Murders’ theatrical debut last year, stated, “Calm down, whomever you are. Mumbai is where I call home. been getting a great night’s sleep.”
Mehta went on to write, “Now that I know who Mr. Naga Vamsi is, I can stop his haughtiness. His most recent success as a producer, Lucky Bhaskar, has heavily referenced the Scam series. I bring this up because I’m glad that tales are shared and that a movie in a different language is able to replicate what has worked for us. Everyone benefits. No one is superior to another. That story is damaging. Even worse is arrogance.
I want to see you in 2025, everyone who is criticizing me on my TL.
“Kaabil and Shootout at Wadala director Sanjay Gupta remarked, “We slept quite well and gladly knowing that 86 Cr was collected by our exhibitors.” It must be your situation, but we don’t become anxious when others succeed.
Pathaan director Siddharth Anand responded to the same by writing, “Mumbai has always been the city that never sleeps ;)” It’s well; I suppose some folks are unaware of Mumbai as it really is.
“And one more thing,” he said. Actually, I have only resided in Bandra and Juhu! Just so you know.
Did Naga Vamsi make fun of Boney Kapoor?
Additionally, other comments implied that Vamsi had offended Boney Kapoor by interrupting him during his panel discussion. “You don’t need to teach us how to respect elders,” the producer wrote in response to one such tweet. “We respect Boney Ji more than you guys do, and there was no disrespect towards Boney Ji in that conversation; it was a healthy discussion. After the interview, Boney Ji and I hugged each other and had a nice laugh. Therefore, please refrain from drawing inferences based only on what you saw.
