People are easily transacting money through UPI 24 hours a day, anytime. But sometimes in a hurry many UPI users send money to the wrong number and they do not know how they can get their money back. You will get your money back within 24 to 48 hours
Actually, in view of these problems of UPI users, new guidelines have been issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Under which, if the wrong UPI ID or number to which you have transferred money is the same as your bank, then the refund process does not take much time. In such a situation, you will get your money back within 24 to 48 hours. However, if your bank and the other person’s bank are different, it may take time to refund the money.
Complain to UPI Customer Care
If you have accidentally sent money to someone else’s UPI number, then it is guaranteed that the other person will not send the money back to you. In such a situation, you can lodge your complaint by calling the customer care of whichever app you have used to send money like Google Pay, Phone Pay or Paytm. For this you will be asked for your transaction information. Keep in mind that the complaint should be filed within 48 hours of the transaction.

Complain to NPCI
If the matter is not resolved with the customer care of the bank or UPI, then apart from this you can also lodge your complaint with the National Payment Corporation of India i.e. NPCI. You can also register your complaint by calling the helpline number 1800-120-1740.
