Hollywoods flagship producer Warner Bros. stepped in to produce Chandni Chowk to China and invested more than Rs 62 crore in this film. After looking at the downfall of Akshay Kumars film Warner Bros. decided to end their run in Bollywood films. As soon as the film was released the audience rejected the film leading to its downfall at the box office. According to the Box Office India report the film had an invested Rs 62 crore out of which the film earned just Rs 40 crore in India. The film had a domino effect on the director as well Nikhil who was once known for making superhits got the tag of flop director. However Nikhil shared a good bond with Akshay Kumar the duo continued working together in multiple films despite the flop of Chandni Chowk to China. They were seen together in films like Airlift.
