LIC's Bima Sakhi Scheme has been launched. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this scheme in Panipat, Haryana. Before the launch of the scheme, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that in the last ten years, LIC has been working for the financial security of women. Women are also being given employment by LIC. More than 50 percent of LIC branches are in rural areas. Insurance programs are being conducted in more than three thousand eight hundred branches across the country. In the year 2017, there were 6 lakh women agents in LIC and now their number has increased to 7.4 lakh. Bima Sakhi Yojana is very important amid the increasing participation of women in LIC.

2 lakh Bima Sakhi will be prepared in 3 years

The Finance Minister said that there is a plan to prepare 2 lakh Bima Sakhi from all over the country in 3 years. Meanwhile, they will have to undergo 3 years of training. This training will be conducted by the government. After training, women can also become development officers by taking an exam. Women between 18 and 70 years old can take advantage of this scheme.

Earnings will be made every month during training.

The Finance Minister said that the Bima Sakhi trained from all over the country will be given a stipend during training. In the first year, the woman will be given Rs 7,000 every month. In the second year, Rs 6,000 will be given every month and in the third year, Rs 5,000 will be given every month. In this way, women will earn more than 2 lakhs in 3 years. Apart from this, they can also increase their income through their commission.

Conditions for application

Only women can apply for the Bima Sakhi scheme. To apply, they must have a matriculation/high school/10th pass certificate. Women between 18 and 70 years old can take advantage of the scheme. Eligible women will be given three years of training by the government. After training, women will work as insurance agents.
