The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has launched the highly anticipated Bima Sakhi Scheme, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Panipat, Haryana. This program, designed to empower women, reflects LIC’s dedication to their financial security and employment. With over 50% of LIC offices situated in rural areas and 7.4 lakh women agents nationwide, the scheme aims to further increase women’s involvement in the insurance sector.
Aiming to Train 2 Lakh Bima Sakhis in 3 Years
The initiative plans to train 2 lakh women as Bima Sakhis across the country over three years. Women aged 18 to 70 can enroll, with training leading to opportunities as LIC agents or even development officers after clearing relevant exams.
Earn While You Learn
Participants in the program will receive a monthly stipend during training:
- Year 1: ₹7,000/month
- Year 2: ₹6,000/month
- Year 3: ₹5,000/month
Over three years, trainees can earn over ₹2 lakh, along with additional commission-based income opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Women applicants only.
- Must be aged 18–70 years.
- Minimum education: Matriculation or equivalent.
