EPFO Latest Update: Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has recently given big relief to some of its employees. Now these employees will not need Aadhaar seeding for EPFO claim settlement.

Earlier the rule was that all employees had to link their Universal Account Number (UAN) with Aadhaar, so that the process of their claim could be completed.

Now EPFO has given great relief to some categories of employees by changing this rule. According to the information given by EPFO, these categories of employees will be exempted from Aadhaar seeding.

  • 1. International Employees: Those employees who have returned to their country after working in India without obtaining Aadhaar. Aadhaar will no longer be mandatory for these employees.
  • 2. Indian citizens: Those who do not have Aadhaar and those who have gone to another country and taken citizenship there, will also be exempted from Aadhaar seeding.
  • 3. Citizens of Nepal and Bhutan: These are people who work in institutions registered under the EPF&MP Act but do not reside in India and do not have Aadhaar.

EPFO Latest Update: Alternative documents will have to be used

Let us tell you that all the employees falling in the above categories will be given the facility to prove their identity through other alternative documents like passport or citizenship certificate instead of Aadhaar. Citizenship certificate can be used especially for citizens of Nepal and Bhutan.

will be carefully examined

EPFO said in its circular that in the case of employees who do not have Aadhaar, “due diligence” i.e. careful investigation will be done. This means that the complete details of these employees will be recorded properly.

EPFO Latest Update: Claim settlement amount will be received through NEFT

Apart from this, it has also been stated in the circular that in such cases, claim settlement will be done through NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer), that is, the amount will be transferred directly to the employee's bank account.

After this decision, EPFO employees will be able to get their claims settled even without Aadhaar, provided they have to present alternative documents. In such a situation, those employees who do not have Aadhar card or who were facing difficulties in the process of Aadhar seeding, will get great relief.
