If you have mistakenly sent money somewhere else (Wrong UPI Payment), then to get the money back, contact the person to whom you have mistakenly sent the money.
UPI (Unified Payment Interface) has come like a revolution in the country. It has completely changed the transaction habits. Sending money from one place to another has become very easy. You can send money in a moment just by scanning. But many times people accidentally transfer money to someone else's UPI ID or account. If something like this happens to you too, then there is no need to panic.
Keeping these things in mind, RBI has issued new guidelines to address the concerns related to wrong transactions on UPI. Under the new rules, if you transfer money to the wrong UPI ID, you can get your money back within 24 to 48 hours.
When both the sender and the receiver use the same bank (Bank Transaction), the refund process is faster. However, if different banks are involved in the transaction, the refund process may take longer.
Contact the payee
If you have mistakenly sent money somewhere else (Wrong UPI Payment), then to get the money back, you should contact the person to whom you have mistakenly sent the money. You can request to send the money back by sending the transaction details to the recipient.

In such a situation, to file a report regarding the wrong UPI transaction, talk to the customer support team on the UPI app. Give them all the details about the transaction.
File a complaint with NPCI
If you make a payment or send money to someone, then it is important to ask in the message of money being deducted from the account whether you have made this transaction by mistake or not. In such a case, if you make a wrong UPI transaction, you can lodge a complaint with NPCI. National Payment Corporation of India manages the UPI payment system.
Ask your bank for help
