Unified Payment Interface, UPI Circle: If you use UPI i.e. Unified Payment Interface, then this news is good news for you. Actually, now you can share your UPI ID with any member of your family or your friend .

Actually, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a feature called UPI Circle, which allows the primary user to authorize the secondary user to make UPI transactions from his bank account, with a transaction limit set. The special thing is that it allows the second user to make transactions through UPI without linking the bank account to UPI.

UPI Circle allows multiple individuals to use one bank account to make UPI payments. These individuals can be family members such as senior citizens, spouses or children who may not have a bank account or whose family members use the same bank account.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) says that a primary user can grant permissions to a maximum of 5 people, and secondary users can only accept this permission from a primary user.

How does this new feature work?

In such a situation, let us know how we can use UPI Circle...

For this story, we have used BHIM-UPI app, however you can use other apps as well.

Step 1: Go to the BHIM-UPI app and click on 'UPI Circle'. A new page will open and there you have to click on the 'Add Family or Friends' button. You have two ways to add family or friends to your UPI circle - scan the QR code or enter their UPI ID.

Step 2: You can also use the UPI ID option. Once you add your friend or family's UPI ID, click on the 'Add to my UPI Circle' button. A new page will open and it will ask you to type in the phone number of the person you want to add to your UPI circle. Note that this person must be in your contact list otherwise he/she cannot be added.

Step 3: Now you have 2 types of access options - 'spend with limits' or 'approve every payment'. In the first option, you set a predefined limit and the other user can only transact within that limit. In the second option, you have to approve every transaction initiated by the other user. Select based on your requirements and then click on 'Proceed'.

Step 4: In this story, we have chosen the first option - spend with limits. When you choose this option, you have to provide 3 inputs - allowed monthly spend, last date of this authorization and your bank account from which the money needs to be deducted. Once done, click on 'Proceed'. Enter your UPI PIN to authorize. That's it, now the secondary user will be added to your UPI circle.
